Notes - Don is the cofounder of Harvesting In Spanish and the ministry in El Salvador. Don Benner at Shalom
He was born in Nescopek, Pennsylvania and graduated from Girad College in Philadelphia then went on to serve in various corporate positions in different companies in Michigan and Colorado. His last position before accepting the Lord's call to the mission field was Vice President of Marketing and Sales for an international corporation based in Denver Colorado. Before going to the mission field, Don studied for a year in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Don, born in 1924, served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He has authored a book titled "One Step at a Time", which narrates his calling to missions and why and how the ministry started in El Salvador. His book is also published in Spanish under the title "Caminar en lo Milagroso". Don is also the founder of the vibrant chapters of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International in the countries of Costa Rica and El Salvador, which are still winning many of the upper class people to Christ, especially among the upper class people of those two countries.
Don and his wife Rose Ann have served as missionaries in El Salvador since 1977. Don served as President of Harvesting In Spanish until February 2009. Currently he coordinates the mission teams and missionaries that come to work at the Shalom Children's Home, supervises the maintenance and construction projects, coordinates the publications, does fund raising, and participates in the many daily activities of the Shalom Children's Home in El Salvador.
Don is married to Rose Ann Murphy, cofounder of H.I.S. Two of their seven children, Teri and Chris, also serve in the ministry. They have 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Don enjoys reading, watching old movies, golf tournaments, and working on his computer.
