  • Notes
    • Margaret (Jones) Bonner was born in 1753 in Chowan County, North Carolina and died on 01 Sep 1804 in Clarke County, Georgia. She was 51 years old. Margaret married Thomas Bonner on 06 May 1767 in Edenton, Chowan County, North Carolina. Thomas and Margaret had 10 children: Jordan; Zadok Augustus; Deborah Nancy; Whitmal; Mary; Thomas; Allen; Willis; Josiah; and Daniel.
It has been said that her parents were Nathan Jones and Elizabeth (Slaughter) Jones, but this is a mistake. Elizabeth did marry Nathan Jones, but she was not born until 1753, the same year as Margaret. Elizabeth obviously could not be the mother of Margaret. Margaret?s parents are unknown, but it is possible that her father may be Thomas Jones. This guess is based on land sales to Thomas Jones that he deeded a percentage of to Thomas and Margaret Bonner. The only logical explanation to him doing this is that he was Margaret?s father. However, there is no proof that he is her father.
It is believed that Margaret is buried at the Bonner plantation near Dove's Creek in Clarke County, Georgia. This is more than likely an unmarked grave.
